Sept 12, 2009 - Homer/Lockport Tea Party

Location  •  American Legion, Lockport Illinois

We had a Tea Party at the American Legion in Lockport. It was not about political parties.  It is about people, and what they expect from their government.  We all agreed that times are tough, and that it is the American people’s spirit and ingenuity that will pull us through, if the government does not hinder us. Increased taxes and user fees, corruption, excessive spending, Government take over of private companies and banks, National Health Care, and Cap and Trade are just some of the obstacles  impeding the ability of the American people to move forward.  We are Capitalist, not Socialist, we are Americans and we sent a message using non-violent protests to our elected officials that we will not take what they are pushing.  We will no longer remain passive.

Just as the 13 colonies united together to be stronger, people from all over joined together and stood up for America and voice their frustration with the Government. Together we are making a difference, and are bringing back common sense to our government.

Closing Prayer

Given by George Porter

Dear Heavenly Father,

We thank you for a safe and peaceful assembly on this beautiful day, and we give thanks for those inspired to give of themselves to organize this effort.  We pray that you bless this tea party event and all such gatherings throughout America today, as we gather to shine the light of truth where we see darkness.

Lord, may the Divinely Inspired guidance, determination, and courage shown by our founding fathers be a shining example of the resolve that all of us will need as we move forward from today to discharge our duties as the vigilant sentries of freedom.

In honor of our founding fathers;
In honor of the hundreds of thousands of soldiers throughout our nations history who sacrificed their lives to protect the blessing of liberty embodied by our nation—the beacon of hope to the rest of the world;
In honor of the men and women in uniform who protect us today;
In honor of the 3000 victims of the 9/11 terrorist attacks;
In honor of You oh Lord, let us all be empowered by the well reasoned, heartfelt calls to arms shared by our guest speakers today as we continue our peaceful revolution, a revolution fought not with cannons and bayonets, but with candidates and truth—candidates from the best among us who will defend some of the greatest human testaments to Your Heavenly Truth Lord, the Declaration of Independence and the US Constitution.

Dear God, we pray for strength as we endeavor to persevere.

All this we ask in Jesus’ name.  Amen.

The Nine Principles

http://www.the912project.com//

1. America is good.
2. I believe in God and He is the Center of my Life.
3. I must always try to be a more honest person than I was yesterday.
4. The family is sacred. My spouse and I are the ultimate authority, not the government.
5. If you break the law you pay the penalty. Justice is blind and no one is above it.
6. I have a right to life, liberty and pursuit of happiness, but there is no guarantee of equal results.
7. I work hard for what I have and I will share it with who I want to. Government cannot force me to be charitable.
8. It is not un-American for me to disagree with authority or to share my personal opinion.
9. The government works for me. I do not answer to them, they answer to me.
